| December Update |
NextGenGwyn, 08.12.2009 |
The game has now been out for about a month allowing people to settle in and get used to the hectic nature of this latest Call Of Duty installment. I myself have been enjoying the game without particularly excelling but what is more encouraging is how well most clan members have taken to the game. After some tricky early games where we weren't prepared enough, we have begun to amass points and ascend the ladder to our current position of 41st (Click here).
As just mentioned, people are settling in quite well to the new maps, exploiting any possible advantage to try and shift the balance in a clan match. Because of this, no clan match is straight forward and it requires a good deal of team work, along with individual skill from each clan member, to give us a lead over our opponents. Some of the rules in place on Console Gaming have certainly raised a few questions, as well as eyebrows, but there is no choice but to get on with it. We've adapted well to the teamwork requirements and myself and Viper only hope we can continue to make such great progress.
It has been really positive that we have been able to comfortably get enough players for every war and have practice matches of 6 v 6, this is a luxury I am not used to but I am fast growing to love lol. If we can maintain this then we can keep a regular schedule of matches and try and keep everyone involved.
I keep sending out challenges so keep an eye on the forums where all accepted challenge details can be found. Check back here for my Christmas and New Year update :p

Modern Warfare 2, anyone heard of this game?
Haha just kidding! Over week has passed now since it was released and people are beginning to rack up some game time online. I played online for the first time Monday night (and every night since) and have really enjoyed the experience so far. Whenever I have joined or made a VBD party it’s been awesome, already got a 10 win streak up and I’ve only got 34 games under my belt I think. My only gripe so far has been with the lag I almost constantly have but that fluctuates and hopefully successive updates will sort it.
Its great fun playing with you lot and we need to do this as much as we can in preparation for the commencement of clan wars, which really wont be long away now. It is crucial to not only play together but also to communicate too as it seems to be lacking sometimes, thus I’ve decided that from time to time I will ask people to play ranked like it is a clan war and I will give instructions as practice. Hopefully this will get us working together nicely and allow us to hit the ground running with regards to the wars and the tournament. Another thing that will help is if you all can check the forums regularly as important information will begin to appear both on there and here on the site, maybe even leave a cheeky post or two
Finally, I hope you are enjoying the game and looking forward to getting stuck into competitive gaming again, I know I am. I’ve seen a good lot of you playing and I am impressed, looking rosy for the future.

| Update for all members! |
NextGenGwyn, 13.10.2009 |
Right, it’s been a long while since the last update so apologies for that! Over the past few months the clan has not been very active competitively and as such things have fallen behind on the website. But the unit has stuck strongly together and we are in a great position with regards to getting competitive again.
I thought it’s about time to get things moving again due to the release of several big titles in the coming months. Firstly we have already seen the release of FIFA 10 and I know many of you are interested in this game both in your own time and competitively, and as such have signed up to the various ladders consolegaming.eu has to offer. Lets hope that we can do well on a front not traditionally pursued by VBD.
Secondly there are the imminent releases of this year’s 2 behemoths in Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2 that will just dominate the landscape until at least the new year, if not even further. Whilst Uncharted 2 will undoubtedly be huge, we’ve decided at this time not to pursue it competitively so that we can just enjoy the game and get familiar with how each other plays again before MW2. I for one cant wait for this game, but may have to depending on whether Amazon can get it out on time or not!
What everyone has been waiting for though is MW2 and I plan on hitting this game hard as I know we have got the players to do very well. I have entered us in for the £400 opening tournament, whilst there are a lot of strong teams on show here I feel that we can still make an imprint on the community that probably doesn’t even realise what we can be. Then of course we have the highly competitive first clan ladder, and seeing as our roster is up to 16 quality players there is no reason why we cant get a team out for nearly every evening to ensure everyone gets a game. All I ask of everyone is loyalty, commitment and communication, and if we have this then who knows where we could end up.
Finally a shout out to new recruits gained over the summer period that have yet to experience the delights we have to offer:
Aliboi (Ali)
Panik_Attack (Alex)
Oldskooler (Davey)
iTinkerzzz (Martin)
Moobinator (Josh)
Rae1990 (Russell)
Good luck to you all.

| Clan Matches Underway! |
iViper, 14.03.2009 |
Violent By Design was able to make a flying start to their campaign on Killzone 2, with their first clan match victory this evening.
With the majority of clans beginning to challenge each other in various competitions, we thought it was best to make a start too. We has agreed upon a match against a clan with whom we are very friendly, the Cold Blooded Elite. The clan match was the first to be played on the KilloneCup team ladder.
The clan match went underway without any problems and both sides were soon getting into the swing of things. We were able to get a strong start in the war by taking the first map by 4-1 on rounds. The second map was host to noticeably a tougher selection of rounds, as both clans struggled to keep consistency. CBE did a great job in the first handful of rounds by taking the lead 3-2, however we were persistent and determined to keep in the fight. Our tactics managed to get us back into the game as we had hoped, and we then went on to win the second map 4-3. With 2 out of the 3 maps over, Violent By Design were declared winners of their first clan match.
Overall, it was a fun and exciting clan war in which both sides looked like winning. There were no real connection issues and both sides got along well. We would like to thank CBE for giving us a very good clan match, and we look forward to our future encounters with them! |
